Everything About Potter.......

About J.K. Rowling

Joanne Kathleen Rowling was born July 31, 1965 in Yate, near Bristol, England to Rolls Royce engineer Peter and Anne Rowling.
Her childhood was spent in the Bristol area where she was raised with her younger sister, Diana. Her early history is peppered with names of people and places that later appeared in her writing: her parents met on a train as it left King's Cross Station; childhood friends Ian and Vikki Potter; the nearby town of Dursley. Joanne began writing stories at age six. Her dream of becoming a writer stayed with her although she began her career as a teacher upon graduating from Exeter. She dreamed up the Harry Potter stories in 1990; it took six years to write the first book. Meanwhile, she taught in Portugal where she met and married, had a baby girl, Jessica, divorced, and returned to Great Britain where she finished Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. She was quickly signed by literary agent Christopher Little; however, several (presumably very rueful) publishers turned down the book before it was purchased by Bloomsbury in 1996. Joanne married Neil Murray in December 2001. The couple has one child, David, and is expecting another in early 2005. Joanne was awarded the O.B.E. in 2001; the prestigious award was presented by one of her fans, Charles, Prince of Wales.

This concludes the briefing up of her nostaligic life. Moving on to the influence she has managed to stamp on today's kids, well it can be portrayed as "Phenomenol", if this doesnt in any way sounds euphemistic!!!! Her dexterity combined with the mastery to produce the desired efficacy has left the audience astounded.

Leave out the kids, her fame is profuse all over the planet right from the small peppy kids to the middleaged businessman. "Her novels are omnipresent with every house hold having a copy of one of the edition." The above statement may look a little like being euphoristic, but that very well delivers the message. The magnitude of the above has resulted in many a fan clubs being formed and diversed across the world. These fan clubs remain active by conducting periodic activities, fun events. All these has contributed to rowling being anointed the richest and affluent novelist with a whopping 30Mn Euro pounds, all through the sale of her editions via Bloomsbury.

Her works include, in chronological order

a) Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

b) Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets..

c) Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban...

c) Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
d) Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix.
and now the all awaited and anticipated
e) Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

The Road So Isolated.

I was travelling to my workplace yesterday when this scene struck me. The road velachery - thoraipakkam bypass road has become prey for dumping in the waste matters from all quaters, with the sewage and corporation lorries scurrying from all directions in order to dispose off their content.

I was kinda shocked as the calm, serene, secluded place has been confided with such harsh treatment. Factories too play an active role in this destruction process. One such proof to qualify for the above fact is the thick smog or rather black smoke rising from the chimney and staying still in air. This undoubtedly pollutes the otherwise pure, fresh air that blows early in the mornings. This also proves precarious to the living biological organisms which is at nature's mercy.

This puts an end to the morning scene. Coming to the evening scenario, things aren't getting any better or rather things are at its worst. The people(in my opinion are arsonists), obsessed with the custom of incendio(burning things) set everything ablaze. This augurs to the melancholy of the place as vehicles struggle to peek though the other side of the smoke, with the visibility level going to its nadir and one could also witness the coughing bypassers (covered nose) . Adding to the gruesome scene is the fact that there is not even a single street light present. One could very well imagine the sad state of things this place reflects.

It is time though late, the concened people took drastic steps to improve the situation and to provide a congenial environment to the general public and to the domestic and biological life.

Anniyan!!!!!! The Mystery Continues

Anniyan, the most hyped film ever in the history of tamil films is to be released this 17th. Apparantly, the film is being touted as the Costliest film (touching 30 crores) ever made in the Tamil industry.

The director of this film(Shankar) is well known for his slick high budget films. Undoubtedly, this film has had the viewers waiting for such an eon of time(Was scheduled for Pongal initially) and hence it can be regarded as being in the zenith of the so called 'sought after' films. Conventional to all his movies, the director has followed the tradition of deploying double action roles, though this time it is more likely a 'split personality' of the brahmin lawyer AMBI.

The trailor looks enticing and the songs (Harris Jeyaraj) comprise of an eclectic mixture of culture + modern day rock (as generationX claims). The only cause of concern we (myself and my friend, when we were discussing abt the film) are the action sequences. Seems the director has experimented a bit more with the nifty stunts as in MATRIX chapters.

All said well, it remains to be seen as to how far will the director succeed in capturing the audience taste, while keeping his style unscathed.

ANNIYAN, THE MYSTERY IS ALL SET TO UNFOLD.

Sachin ka Power

Hello Viewers ... Here again this column is goin to speak on none other than the batting Maestro "Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar".

For many years, this man has been regarded as one of the Gift of Gods for Modern day Cricket. His goliath power, Immaculate timing, stylish strokeplay, showy foot work have all contributed to him being called the Demi God of team India. Who can ever forget the blitzkrieg he carried on over Australia at sharjah where he helped his team to get into the finals by scoring a brave 140+ amidst severe sandstorm and then followed subsequently by an assault that left the aussies in total perdition.

Yet another memorable feather remains the worldcup 2003 where he scored runs at will, amassing 600+ in the process. The hook six off caddick and then the shoaib - sachin battle stands out well in memory.

Apparantly sachin emerged as the top run scorer in 2 world cups(1996 and 2003).

Yet like all other greats, this genius too has not been spared by critics, who claims that sachin is not the man when it comes to pressure situations and that he crumbles and breaks up when team INDIA needs him the most, unlike lara who comes up with his dazzling best when his team needs him.

While statistics are in favour of critics predicament, the humanitarian perspective would reveal insights. After all he too is human unlike anybody with the exception for batting skills and not a machine. Each and every time he gets to the arena, there is immense pressure piling on him with 1000's of fans screeching all over in order to see the best in him. Yet one should complement "his toughness of mind and character" to have been able to stand out and deliver for so many years.

Now that he is off for 4 months with his tennis elbow again creeping up, i requst all sachin fans to stand by his side and wish him good to be back in good shape.

Jinnah Controversy

"Poor Advani, did he really not anticipate the kind of storm his comments about the Qaid-e-Azam would unleash? In all his decades in public service, did he really have no clue about how India regards its former citizen? Forget India, even Advani's own Bharatiya Janata Party or its puppeteer, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh?"

These are nothing but excerpts from rediff.com. To a normal person, at first glance this seems to be an innocent plain statement given out not knowing about the consequences, but careful scrutiny would infact indicate that the whole drama has been crafted deliberately in an attempt to move out of the party. Well this again, according to my opinion stems out from the past skirmishes between him and Uma. After all, where in the universe did the need for such an introspection about JINNAH came. What was the reason behind such a statement? Well all this speaks volumes about the political melodrama being at its peak .. in this democracy.
