THE BIG PROCESS

The next day, i got up early, packed all the documents in a folder, showered myself a little and started off towards the consulate. It was morning 7:30 when i reached there. I was in for a surprise when i saw the serpentile queue of people standing already. Luckily, the queue dissolved quite quickly as the staffs there started the processings sharp at 8 AM.

We had to present our Appointment copy at the gate prior to being admitted inside. The security officials at the gate ransacked us to the core before giving the green signal indicating that we are clean. The whole process was just a matter of minutes. First there was a queue where we had to hand over the DD for the Shipment costs, then was another one where we had to give the DD as entrance fee. Then we were directed to a third room, where the main picture lies. The VISA interview....

The official asked me to fingerprint both my index fingers. Then glimpsed through all my documents, then asked me my purpose of visit and that it...Voila..guess he was totally convinced with my answer that he gave me a 10 yr m entry visa...

After all this drama, we went to "Mylapore Kapaleeswarar" temple for a brief worship and then returned back home.

Gettin a Visa - Diff or DuckSoup??

This blog is a result of me getting a breather for a fair enough time!!! I still remember the day [23rd Sep 2005] coz that was the day when i was about to travel to my good old Chennai. Guess the reason??? The subsequent day i was scheduled an appointment at the Chennai consulate for the US VISA :-) Sounds cool is it!!!

I don't know why but i was kind of apprehensive about this. probably may be due to the fact that i received too much of inputs from people guiding me how to speak, what to speak, what not etc. I had the feeling of butterflies flirting all over my stomach.

The train journey i should say was fairly comfortable execpt the claustrophobic environment which is a typical of A/C chair car. All through the journey, i was getting something or the other to eat. I should describe this journey as Gluttonous. It consisted of almost everything from sandwiches to Cakes, burgers, soft drinks etc etc..You name it and I had it.

Time went on like this with intermittent naps and friendly chats with a person, who was also traveling for his Visa. The good 7.5 hr journey reached it's climax when the train hit the chennai central. My dad was waiting there to pick me up and we started towards our house...
