Series of Mishaps
This blog might be a little interesting to readers or rather normal human-beings as this is going to depict the harrowing agonies faced by me on landing up in the US for the third time.
Let me narrate the series of mishaps by chronological order..
First Mishap: Landed in chicago airport only to learn that the baggages were missing. I had to suffer for 10 full days with the little parafernalia. The American Airlines staff were deadly cruel and proved to be hard nuts to crack. Till then i was thinking that i was the one staunch stubborn fellow on earth, but then quickly learnt that the world is filled with many such souls. I even went to the extreme of filing a complaint with the better business bureau in order to make both ends meet which proved futile. I just managed to strike a deal for 10 k frequent flier miles.
Mishap #2: I did not get my social security for 2.5 months. Wonder what's the need!!! I was without penny for 2.5 months :). This time learnt the art of surviving with the little peanuts that i had. This again reinforced my belief that the US is filled with dickheads and stubborn souls as the officers at the Social security did not even care to give in their ears to my shouts.
Mishap #3: The Social Security finally arrived only to leave me in dismay because of the misspelt first name.
Mishap #4: Like all other fellow mates, thought i should get the california driver's license soon so as to hit the road. Fortunately, passed the test in the first attempt, but the temporary license again had my name misspelt. This demanded an other trip to the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) the next day to corrct.
Mishap #5: Probably the biggest of them all as i was hit by a 60 mph vehicle near the freeway fork enroute to fremont. Fortunately, i did not lose control and managed to drive through. Does this speak of my Schumacher capability ;).
Mishap #6: Got mugged by 2 guys (a black & a mexican). Wondering if this is a fortunate situation or the opposite as i was robbed of just $20 and managed to escape unscathed. I called up 911 only to teach me again that the cops here are no lesser than our indian super police.
Well, i hope and wish that the above series of mishaps are indeed the final list and that no additions happen. On a positive note and attitude, every mishap has taught me something which again propels up the saying
"Everything's for Good"
